Lola Smith

Lola Smith retired from General Electric Corporate Headquarters in Fairfield, Connecticut in 2014 after a successful forty-year career as an administrator. Ms. Smith began her career at Action for Bridgeport Community Development (ABCD), where she worked for five years before accepting a position at General Electric.

Born in Sanford, North Carolina to Artent and Edward Smith. Lola Smith moved north to Bridgeport, Connecticut with her mother, four brothers, and two sisters at the age of sixteen. Ms. Smith has most of her life in “The Park City.” She is a graduate of Central High School and briefly attended Norwalk Community College.

Lola Smith now lives a very satisfying retired life in Derby, Connecticut. She is the proud mother of two boys, both of whom were superstar basketball players at Kolbe High School in Bridgeport. Her oldest son, Paul Smith, is deceased; and her youngest son Christopher Smith went on to play professional NBA basketball. She is also the proud grandmother of six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Ms. Smith is a proud member of Mount Aery Baptist Church (Dr. Anthony L. Bennett, Pastor) and has been a member there since first moving to Connecticut.
